| Mail the following to the BSIS:
A. The Yellow firearms application. (Keep a copy for your record).
B. The second copy of the live scan request form. (Keep the third copy for your record).
C. The Online registration receipt.
D. A check payable to the BSIS for: $80.00

Once the Bureau (BSIS) has received and cashiered your applications, and the Department of Justice and the FBI have cleared your criminal history, the criminal history clearance will be transmitted to the Bureau. The cleared Security Guard approval will then appear on the Bureau’s Web site, and may be “Verified” at http://www.bsis.ca.gov/online_services/verify_license.shtml
Once the Security Guard Registration has been cleared and appears on the Bureau's web site, a screen printout from the web site may be used as an interim Security Guard Registration and the Security Guard can be placed on an UNARMED assignment. The actual Security Guard Card will be mailed to the applicant and should be received in 7-10 business days.
A Security Guard on an UNARMED assignment must have on his/her person, a screen printout of the interim Security Guard registration obtained from the Bureau's web site or a valid Security Guard Card AND a valid photo ID.
The Firearm Permit is normally issued approximately two to three months AFTER the Guard Card is issued.
A Security Guard may NOT be place on an ARMED assignment unless he/she has in their possession, a valid Guard Card AND a Firearm Permit issued by the Bureau. |
